Dr. Stewart D. Redwood, BSc (Hons), PhD, FGS, FIMMM, Fellow SEG is a consulting economic geologist based in Panama City with more than 35 years metals exploration experience in Latin America, the Caribbean and Worldwide. He has a BSc (Hons) from Glasgow University (1982) was awarded a PhD from Aberdeen University in 1986 for his research on the gold-silver deposits of the Bolivian Altiplano. He has worked for the British Geological Survey, BHP, Mintec SA (Bolivia), Metall Mining Corp, Inmet Mining Corp., Cia Minera Antamina S.A., AngloGold, GoldQuest Mining Corp. (co-founder), Colombia Goldfields, Regulus Resources and others. Since 2001, he has been an independent consulting geologist and business developer.
Dr. Redwood first visited Colombia and Ecuador in 1984, and Panama in 1993. In Panama he has worked for Metall, Inmet, GoldQuest, Caribbean Copper & Gold and as a consultant on most of the deposits, including Cobre Panama. He has two decades of exploration experience in Colombia since AngloGold’s initial foray into the country in 1999-2000; was Vice President Exploration for Colombia Goldfields Ltd., which defined the Marmato gold deposit, and is a consultant to its successor Gran Colombia Gold; was Vice President Exploration for Caribbean Copper & Gold Corp.; as well other a consultant to other private and listed companies; and has written more than a dozen NI 43-101 technical reports on Colombian projects. In Ecuador, he has supervised reconnaissance exploration programs for Inmet and AngloGold.
